The following is a strange "poem" that I remember from my childhood and I have no idea who came up with it and I am surprised as am able to remember it, since I was about 5-6 years old the first time I heard it.

                                                                                                        I KNOW AN OLD LADY

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly. I don't know why she swallowed a fly...perhaps she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a spider that wiggled and wiggled and tickeled inside her.

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly. I don't know why she swallowed a fly...perhaps she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a bird. How absurd to swallow a bird. She swallowed the bird to catch the

spider that wiggled and wiggled and tickeled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly. I don't know

why she swallowed the fly...perhaps she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a cat. Think of that she swallowed a cat. She swallowed the cat to catch the

bird. How absurd to swallow a bird.

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the

fly. I don't know why she swallowed a fly...perhaps she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a dog. What a hog to swallow a dog. She swallowed the dog to catch the cat. Think of that she swallowed

a cat.

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird. How absurd to swallow a bird.

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider that wiggled and wiggled and ticked inside her. She swallowed the the spider to catch the fly. I don't know

why she swallowed a fly...perhaps she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a horse. She's dead of course.

My additional comment: Why in the world would an old lady of 78 remember a rediculous poem that she used to say when she was 5 or 6 years old. Good grief. There has to be a better poem than that!   groooan huh3

Glad to know I am not the only person who remembers hearing this. Thought I was "losing it" for a minute.
