How constitutional is Brett Kavanaugh?

How constitutional is Brett Kavanaugh?

By Ron Bedell

I received an email this afternoon that Justice Kavanaugh is nothing more than a carbon copy of retiring U.S. Supreme Court Judge, Anthony Kennedy. Just now I received an email from the National Association for Gun Rights that Kavanaugh’s position on the second amendment could be unstable and unclear. Can Kavanaugh be dependent upon to defend the constitution AND THE SECOND AMENDMENT? Another question is, “Has Donald Trump picked another justice for the U.S. Supreme Court knowing that he can get another win as he did with Neil Gorsuch, but this justice isn’t necessarily a strong supporter of the second amendment?  When America’s illegitimate president, Barack Obama, made his two successful U.S. Supreme Court appointments (Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagen) the entire country knew these two women were as far to the left as Barack Obama is! Even the U.S. Senators who confirmed these two women knew that these women were nothing more than carbon copies of the Marxist communist Barack Obama. So I guess we can ask a question, “Do American presidents appoint these Supreme Court justices to support and further their agenda rather than to support and obey the U.S Constitution?” Here is another question, “Is Donald Trump really a constitutionalist or just a ‘puppet’ who was put in office by the Rothschild’s and other globalists?” Here is one last question folks, “Is Donald Trump really fighting globalism, or is this just one big game?” Here’s what I mean. Why is Donald Trump surrounding himself with people who he is fighting? Plus why is Trump running federal deficits as big as Barack Obama did? Anyway will Brett Kavanaugh be a constitutionalist? No one knows. But we will have to hold their feet to the fire.

Dear Ron,

Late last night, President Trump announced his Supreme Court Nominee.

DC Court of Appeals Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

While the media and the political pundits ramble about the implications of this choice, gun owners have reason to remain on guard throughout the nomination process.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh currently serves on the DC Court of Appeals and has deep ties to the Bush Administration.

On the surface, Kavanaugh sided correctly on a Second Amendment case, which leaves the door open that he could vote ok on the Supreme Court.

However, several outlets including The Daily CallerAxios, and The Washington Post have described Kavanaugh as being the “low energy” pick, “facing questions” from conservatives.

And questions remain on whether or not Kavanaugh left open the possibility that some gun controls are permissible, when he said:

“<The Supreme Court left> little doubt that courts are to assess gun bans and regulations based on text, history, and tradition, not by a balancing test such as strict or intermediate scrutiny.” 1

What gun bans Kavanaugh thinks could pass muster remains unclear.

But rest assured the National Association for Gun Rights will be pushing to get to the bottom of it during the confirmation fight ahead.

As you know, Supreme Court picks frequently turn out to be LESS “pro-gun” or “pro-constitution” once they’re confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Shocking rulings from Bush-appointed Chief Justice John Roberts, and David Souter, have resulted in less freedom over time.

Of course, no Supreme Court nominee can be guaranteed to rule pro-gun.

But, I’m sure you agree, the last thing gun owners need is any doubt upfront on how Kavanaugh will rule on the Second Amendment.

After all, with important cases up for grabs, including the fundamental right to carry, possess, and even own a firearm, the importance of making SURE we know where Judge Kavanaugh stands cannot be understated.

So please encourage your Senators to ask Judge Kavanaugh tough questions during the confirmation hearings.

P.S. In a historic decision that will shape the future of the Supreme Court, President Trump announced Brett Kavanaugh as his pick.

Sadly, Kavanaugh’s record on the Second Amendment is far from a slam dunk.

That’s why gun owners must be ready to lobby their Senators to ask tough questions during confirmation hearings.
