What does Christmas mean to me?

What does Christmas mean to me?

By Ron Bedell

No politics for me today folks. Today is the Lord’s birthday.

About two thousand years ago the second Person of the trinity, Jesus Christ, left Heaven to enter a sinful world for the purpose of saving us all from going to hell. Our sins separates us from God and will send us to hell.

Yesterday I went to a church to eat a Christmas dinner. While I was there a gentleman asked me, “What does Christmas mean to me?” I told him, “Christmas used to mean gifts, toys, etc., etc. But not today! Since then I have learned the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas has everything to do with the gift that God gave all mankind. God gave us His Son, Jesus Christ.”

Please look at John 3:16.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christmas has nothing to do with you and me giving gifts to each other. But it has everything to do with the gift that God gave all mankind – God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ was a lot more than just a great teacher and a great man. Jesus is deity; He is the eternal Son of the living God. Thirty-three years after the birth of Jesus Christ, Jesus went to the Cross. Jesus died for all our sins. You and I are sinners, whether you are Jew or Gentile. And all it takes is one sin to keep us out of Heaven and send us straight to hell. Heaven is a perfect place. We actually have to be sinless and have the righteousness of God to enter God’s Heaven. There is not one person who can say they are sinless and as righteous as God. Therefore Jesus had to go to the Cross. Christ’s blood sacrifice for us on the Cross satisfies all of God’s just demands on the guilty sinner – you and me. There is no good work or sacrifice that we could perform to save ourselves. The penalty of our sins is to spend eternity in hell but Christ’s blood on the Cross forgives all of our sins, even our original sin that we inherited from Adam. Christ forgave everyone! Eternal salvation in Heaven is only in the Lord Jesus Christ. Please look at Acts 4:12:

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.

Your eternal salvation has absolutely nothing to do with your political party preference, or politics, or your skin color, or anything else. But it has everything to do with what Jesus Christ did for you on Calvary’s Cross 2000 years ago.

Only Jesus can save you.

Christ Died……………………………………That’s History.

Christ Died For Me……………………….That’s salvation!
