Do you think this Oregon Law should be changed? Circulators are not required to be residents of Oregon, registered voters or old enough to vote. Under Oregon election law, any person, with one exception, can register as a paid circulator

I don't live in Oregon so it's hard for me to even care. Sorry.

what state you live in?. So I take it as you could careless about what laws maybe in your state that allows others outside the state to help change laws that will never effect them but will effect you ,, I get it.. and this is why Soros buses them in.

i am opposed to Oregon's "Voter Initiative" as it smacks of SERIOUS DEMOCRACY and THAT is diametrically opposed to a Republic Form of Government "guaranteed" by Article IV Section 4.

I want to get a constitutional amendment to be voted on for electoral college voting using the counties here in oregon. it will be the only way to remove the liberal choke hold on oregon.. we are heading to bankruptcy and no one in portland/eugene could give a s,,t. they dont care. never have .

I care about the laws implemented in my state. What Oregon does affects me not one whit. If you don't like the laws of Oregon, MOVE. If you don't live in Oregon, why do you care?

I do live in oregon and was born in eugene and watched oregon become the SH. hole over the last 40 years , as for trying to change it , I have and still am and I do get involved. As for moving , I have come to a conclusion Ill fight for as long as I can to save america from here . Im the thorn th...

I don't understand the issue, what is this about? Circulators? Not sure what that is.

someone to "circulate a petition" to change the Law.
Randy M

exactly

I think as long as the signature on the initiative petition is valid, it doesn't matter what the particulars of the person gathering the signature are. Democracy in action! I'm currently working gathering signatures for a initiative petition in Missouri. I volunteer, but could get paid of the signat...

democracy is repugnant to the Constitution of the United States of America, Article IV Section 4 "The United States shall guarantee that every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government..."
Richard Hertz
Is your opposition to the symmetric federalism of Article 4, Section 4? Are you in favor of asymmetric federalism? My major in college was Political Science and I've never seen Article 4, Section 4 used as an argument against an initiative petition. As to state law requirements for signature gatheri...

when it can favor a party you will see , all it takes is portland and maybe eugene in oregon to out vote the state , and if you have a thing called acorn coming into the state to help twist our state into a democracy and NOT a democratic republic I dont want them here. they are here to help destroy...

Even an initiative petition that makes it to the ballot, and passes, must pass Constitutional muster. If you would like your vote to have some influence in one of the big cities, you need to move there. It makes local activism much easier (3-5 people see my yard signs because I'm rural), and your me...

well what happens is you have people with agendas . when you have like Soros busing in people to change laws or protest it really isnt what the people within the state may want. I dont like outside influence .. you may be need to live here to understand, oregon is as corrupt as Washington is. mil...

It's population based. Large population centers will always have more influence on election results than rural areas and small towns. Move to a large population center and vote if you want to change they system. There were a lot of smart men who came up with the electoral college, and it works. The ...

and that is why states need the electoral college for state elections for governors at least. using counties like states do in presidential elections.
Richard Hertz
That is the first I've heard of that for state elections. Is this imagined by you, or someone else on the fringe? The convolution and cost that would create in a state election is ill advised. Let's limit government waste and unnecessary spending. My state is too conservative to waste money like tha...

I still don't fully understand what you are getting at but I do agree with you that Oregon is screwed up. I have a good number of close relatives living there that I keep in close contact with and they tell me horror stories about the state government. I think that the wind must be carrying the Cali...

I've had teens come to my house circulating petitions. I don't see what the big deal is. I'll read what it's about -- if I agree with it, I'll sign. If I don't agree, I don't sign it.

This seems like someone is making a mountain about of an ant hill.

think deeper, Its not actually what its about its who ... Accorn did just what you say but they made sure it was tilted to the left. the left couldn't stand if it wasn't for lies a deceit and if they have pros doing it then why not bus them around to help?.
community organizing.. heard of it?. only...

Do you read the petition before signing it? I do and if I have questions, I ask. If I don't like the answers, I don't sign it. It's actually that easy, Randy. I couldn't care less if they hire teenagers or senior citizens to march around the neighborhoods looking for signatures. For me the issue is ...

If they are circulating petitions to change state law then yes. They should be affected by the laws they are trying to change.
